Witchcraft, Wellness, Wandering the World: Enhance Your Wellbeing Journey

For a long time I was asleep - not in the literal sense but a sort of waking slumber.
Mental health struggles, bad relationships and feeling overwhelmed I almost morphed into a version of me that worked on autopilot. Don't get me wrong, I had good times and made precious memories with my children and loved ones but for a lot of it I think I was just in survival mode.
It wasn't until just over a year ago at the end of a relationship that I finally started to wake up properly. I had already been doing the work but it was then that I became really aware of how asleep I had been.
It was time to make some promises to myself. It was time to focus on me and not relationships or what others expected or thought of me. I needed to love myself.
I am still on that journey and it is a forever evolving process but I have made progress in ways I cannot measure. The growth I feel compared to a year ago - I wouldn't even recognise myself. Living is about learning, growing, ascending and I will continue to do so.
Witchcraft, Wellness and Wandering are three pillars I live by; placing importance on self care, spirituality and exploration of the self and the world. Each pillar aligns and connect with each other creating an ecosystem to improve your circumstances, well being and love for who you are.
WITCHCRAFT
Some of you may have found me or this blog because you already follow me and know what I am about, for some of you that just happened to come across this blog may find witchcraft to be a bit of a scary word. Even those of you who have a curiosity may recoil at the idea of being called a "witch".
The reality is that the word "witch" has been beaten, dragged and twisted into something unrecognisable. Before they became feared they were the wise woman, the healer, the seer. They were loved by their neighbours and treated with respect. Witchcraft is about tapping into energies unseen and connecting with the world around you.
For me personally, it also helps me connect with my womanhood and embrace all aspects revolved around that.
IS WITCHCRAFT FOR ME
Although this is one of my three pillars it actually just represents spirituality in general. My path is that of a witch. You may practice a religion or lifestyle of your own which is wonderful - this pillar is about connecting with your practice whatever that may be.
WHY WITCHCRAFT HELPED ME
Engaging in witchcraft can provide numerous benefits for your wellbeing:
Spiritual Growth: Visiting sacred sites can deepen your spiritual practice and understanding of the universe.
Connection to Nature: Many witchcraft practices emphasize the importance of nature. All herbs, crystals, flowers, trees (i could go on) symbolise something and can be used in spell work, cooking, medicine and more.
Processing Emotions: Through my practice I have been able to work through my emotions, process them and understand them.
Healing: Working with herbs, oils and other natural products mean I can make my own products and care for my body and mind.
Improve self love and confidence: Using magic to support me on my journey to love myself and manifest what I want.
Connecting with the Feminine: this is particularly personal to my own practice and relates to working with the moon, embracing the feminine and sisterhood.
WELLNESS
Wellness is a very much a buzzword and tends to focus on the aesthetics with the health benefits being secondary but when I use the word wellness it incorporates all aspects of your well being - mind, body and soul.
For example, I am someone that would like to lose weight and improve my health but I realised that focusing on this as priority was not for my own wellbeing, it was because I wanted to look good based on society's standards and the importance I put on other peoples opinions.
I was stuck in a mindset of "I need to be a certain weight, have enough money, look a certain way" for me to reach my goals and live my best life.
Once I started looked at my wellness from a soul level I was able to build up my own self worth and seek my own validation rather then everyone else's.
My priority at that time should not have been "I need to look good" but "I need to love myself as I am right now with the knowledge that I can change things whilst still being a worthy human being".
WHY WELLNESS MATTERS
The Mind: Looking at the way you think about yourself and the world around you and improving your relationship with your own mind. This includes coping strategies for negative self talk, overwhelming thoughts, mental health struggles/therapy.
The Body: Nurturing your body builds self love and ensures you are caring for yourself on a physical level. This includes food/drink, skin and body care, exercise and movement.
The Soul: Discovering who you are and who you want to be. Recognising you have your own unique needs/wants/desires and your soul voice only needs to speak to you. This includes the kind of person you are (your authentic self), your dreams and goals, things you love (music, food, places, people) as well as new things you would like to try (hobbies, interests etc).
The Home: The home is the foundation for all the above points as it is the space where a lot of it will happen. Keeping a clean, tidy space, taking care of your things and environment and decorating how you like will improve your mind, your body and your soul.
WANDERING
Wandering is all about exploring the world around you. It incorporates history, people, art, music and so much more.
We are all at different stages in our lives with our own responsibilities, budgets and needs but none of this should hold you back from experiencing life even if it means exploring your own home town.
Yes, if you can travel the world do it. Go everywhere you can and soak in every culture and experience. For most of us this isn't always possible but it doesn't mean we cant enjoy the worlds offerings and embrace new things.
Learning to date yourself and be truly present will bring a whole new perspective on what you want in life or what you would like to do in the future. It also builds self worth and confidence which will push you even further to achieve your dreams.
WHY WANDERING WILL CHANGE YOU
Building Confidence: Getting out of the house and doing new things can be really scary but starting small and building on that builds confidence which will have a positive effect on all areas of your life.
New Experiences: Trying new things and visiting new places is exciting and means you get to learn something new about the world and yourself. Not every new experience is positive but it is a lesson and whether good or bad you have a story to tell and know more about what you like or dont like.
Teaches you to Romanticise: Exploring new places inspires you to be the main character in your own story. It asks you to slow down and actually BE in the experience. The point isn't getting from a to b it is the journey in between. You will learn to be mindful of your surroundings and notice things you never noticed before.
Slows things down: The world is fast and ever moving but wandering means slowing down and staying present. Prioritising time specifically for you to explore means you have no where to be but there in that moment.
